Step away from the crowded pier and into the verdant, vertical world of Santa Monica’s most beautiful neighborhoods. This isn't just a walk; it’s an immersive 5-mile urban safari designed for those who find joy in a challenging incline and a hidden view. Led by local experts, you’ll trade the pavement for secret garden paths and historic stairways, uncovering a side of the coast only the locals know.
Our adventure begins at the iconic Totem Pole in Palisades Park, where the sea breeze sets the tone for the morning. From there, we leave the tourist tracks behind to explore a labyrinth of leafy canyons and quiet, forested streets.
You’ll experience the unique "storybook" charm of the area, crossing shady creeks and navigating terrain that shifts from rugged hillsides to elegant, garden-lined avenues. This route is specifically curated for active travelers who enjoy movement, offering a vigorous workout balanced by breathtaking stops to capture the perfect ocean panorama.
This guided hike is a lively exploration of Santa Monica’s distinct geography and architecture. Because we focus on the "secret" spots, you'll see a side of the city that most visitors—and even many residents—miss entirely.
How difficult is the hike? This is a moderate-to-challenging urban hike. You should be comfortable walking 5 miles and handling multiple flights of stairs and steady inclines.
Are there restrooms along the way? Facilities are available at the start in Palisades Park and at our final café destination. We recommend using the restroom before the tour begins.
Is the tour pet-friendly? While we love animals, some of the specific paths and stairways we navigate are best suited for human hikers to ensure the safety and pace of the group.
What happens if it rains? Santa Monica usually offers perfect hiking weather, but in the event of heavy rain, we will contact you to reschedule or provide a refund.
