Munnar on a Shoestring Budget: A 5-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Mattupetty Dam
    25 minutes (8.5 miles) from Munnar Town

    Enjoy a morning boat ride and take in the scenic views of the dam, followed by a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum to learn about tea processing and taste some tea. In the evening, take a stroll around the beautiful Kundala Lake.

    2 hours (28 miles) from Nyayamkadu Waterfalls

    Visit the highest point in Munnar and take in panoramic views of the Western Ghats. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. In the evening, visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and spot some wildlife.

  4. Day 4: Attukad Waterfalls
    1 hour (9.5 miles) from Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary

    Take a scenic drive to Attukad Waterfalls and enjoy a morning hike. After lunch, visit the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate and witness the tea-making process. In the evening, visit the Lockhart Gap Viewpoint for some breathtaking views.

  5. Day 5: Echo Point
    35 minutes (9.4 miles) from Lockhart Gap Viewpoint

    Start the day with a visit to Echo Point and shout out your name to hear it echo back. After lunch, visit the Blossom International Park to see the beautiful flowers and enjoy some outdoor activities. In the evening, visit the scenic Pothamedu Viewpoint for some stunning views of the valley.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Marayoor Sandalwood Forests or the Anayirangal Dam. For a side trip, visit the nearby hill station of Thekkady.
