Exploring Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    1 hour 30 minutes (33 km) from Kalpetta

    The Edakkal Caves are a unique attraction in Wayanad that is a must-visit. These caves are known for their ancient rock carvings that date back to the Neolithic age. Explore the caves in the morning and see the ancient art and inscriptions. Afternoon, you can visit the Tribal Museum situated nearby and learn more about the Wayanad tribes. In the evening, head to the Chembra Peak, which is around 1 hour 20 minutes (30 km) away from the museum, to catch a beautiful sunset.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour 15 minutes (37 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your day early and head to the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India and is surrounded by beautiful mountains and a serene lake. Afternoon, go on a trek to the Banasura Hill, which is just 8 km from the dam, and enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding hills. In the evening, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is around 1 hour 30 minutes (40 km) away from the hill, and spot some wild animals in their natural habitat.
