In the morning, visit the Golden Temple, which is also known as Harmandir Sahib. It is the holiest shrine in Sikhism and is surrounded by a beautiful man-made lake called the Sarovar. This serene place of worship is a must-visit for its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Afternoon, head to the Wagah Border to watch the Border Ceremony. In the evening, you can visit the Jallianwala Bagh where the British army committed a massacre in 1919. This park has a museum and a well that the people jumped into to escape the shooting.
In the morning, head to Ram Bagh, which is a beautiful garden that houses the summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The garden is home to various flower beds, water bodies, and a museum that showcases the history of Punjab. Afternoon, visit the Partition Museum which showcases the stories of the millions who were affected by the partition of India and Pakistan. In the evening, head to Katra Jaimal Singh Market to shop for traditional Punjabi clothes, handicrafts and souvenirs.
There are a few other attractions that you can add to your itinerary. Durgiana Temple, also known as the Laxmi Narayan Temple, is a beautiful shrine dedicated to Goddess Durga. Gobindgarh Fort is a historic fort that has been converted into a museum. You can also take a food tour of the city to taste some of the best street food in Punjab. A side trip to the nearby town of Wagah to visit the Indo-Pak border and the Radcliffe Line can be an exciting experience.
