3-Day Itinerary for Kochi and Munnar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kochi
    23.4 km (approx. 1 hour) from Cochin International Airport

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace. This beautiful palace showcases Kerala's traditional architecture and houses many interesting exhibits, including murals, paintings, and artifacts from the royal family's history.

    Afternoon: Head to Fort Kochi and grab some delicious seafood at one of the many local restaurants. After lunch, walk around the Fort Kochi Beach and explore the Chinese Fishing Nets. Don't forget to take some pictures with these unique structures in the background.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. This church is famous for being the burial place of Vasco da Gama, the Portuguese explorer who discovered the sea route to India.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    125 km (approx. 4 hours) from Kochi

    Morning: Start early and drive to Munnar, a beautiful hill station famous for its tea plantations and picturesque landscapes. On your way, stop at the Cheeyappara Waterfalls and take some pictures of the cascading waterfalls.

    Afternoon: Once you reach Munnar, have lunch and visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history and production of tea in the region. Afterward, visit the beautiful Mattupetty Dam and enjoy boating and horse riding.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Echo Point, a scenic spot known for its natural echo phenomenon. Shout out your name and hear your voice reverberate across the hills.

  3. Day 3: Munnar
    50 km (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes) from Munnar

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Take a guided tour and enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna of the park.

    Afternoon: Head to the Top Station, the highest point in Munnar, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Western Ghats. On your way back, stop at the Kundala Lake and enjoy a shikara boat ride.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Rose Garden, a beautiful park filled with various species of roses. Spend some time enjoying the colorful flowers and taking pictures.

While in Kochi, don't miss out on the Kathakali dance performance, a traditional dance form of Kerala. You can also take a backwater cruise and explore the serene beauty of the countryside.

If you have time, consider taking a day trip to Alleppey and experience the famous houseboat ride along the backwaters. You can also visit the Athirapally Waterfalls, one of the largest waterfalls in Kerala.
