Two-Day Itinerary for Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    20 minutes (9 km) from Sulthan Bathery

    In the morning, head to Edakkal Caves to explore the prehistoric rock carvings that date back to 6000 BCE. The caves are nestled within the Ambukutty Mala hill and require a short hike to reach. In the afternoon, stop by Phantom Rock, a unique rock formation that resembles a skull. Spend some time taking in the views and clicking pictures. In the evening, head to Pookode Lake, a picturesque freshwater lake amidst the lush greenery of Wayanad. Enjoy a boat ride or simply relax by the lake.

  2. Day 2: Soochipara Falls
    45 minutes (20 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your day early and head to Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall cascading from a height of 200 meters. The falls are surrounded by dense forests, making it an ideal spot for nature lovers. In the afternoon, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, tigers, and leopards. Take a jeep safari or go trekking inside the sanctuary to get a closer look at the wildlife. In the evening, head to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, for a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.
