2-Day Adventure Itinerary for Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    23 minutes (8.6 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day early with a trek to the top of Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek takes about 3-4 hours and is moderately difficult, but the stunning views from the top are worth every step. Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy at the heart-shaped lake on the way up. In the afternoon, visit the Pookode Lake, which is a freshwater lake surrounded by lush green forests. Take a boat ride or go for a nature walk around the lake. In the evening, visit the Edakkal Caves, which are ancient rock caves with prehistoric rock art. It takes about an hour to explore the caves and the surrounding area.

  2. Day 2: Banasura Sagar Dam
    45 minutes (20.1 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India. You can go boating or kayaking on the lake or take a nature walk around the dam. In the afternoon, visit the Soochipara Waterfalls, which is a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by dense forests. You can go for a swim in the natural pool at the bottom of the falls or go for a trek in the surrounding area. In the evening, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, and other wildlife. You can take a jeep safari through the sanctuary to spot some of the animals.
