4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    Early morning, visit the famous Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple opens at 6:00 am, and you can witness the morning aarti, which is a beautiful sight. After that, take a stroll around the temple complex and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit Gandhi Sarovar, which is a trek of around 3 km. The crystal clear water of the lake and the panoramic view of the snow-capped mountains will leave you mesmerized. In the evening, return to your hotel and enjoy a warm cup of tea with a view of the mountains.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal

    3.6 km (1 hour) from Kedarnath Temple

    Start your day by trekking to Vasuki Tal, which is a beautiful high altitude lake situated amidst the Himalayan ranges. Later in the afternoon, visit Triyuginarayan Temple, which is famous for the eternal flame that has been burning since the time of the legendary wedding of Lord Shiva and Parvati. Enjoy the beautiful sunset from the temple premises. In the evening, return to Kedarnath and spend some time at the hotel.

  4. Day 4: Gauri Kund

    23.9 km (1 hour 30 minutes) from Kedarnath Temple

    On the last day of your trip, visit Gauri Kund, which is considered as the starting point of the trek to Kedarnath. Take a dip in the holy water of the Kund and seek blessings from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. After that, visit the famous Gauri Kund Temple, which is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. In the afternoon, return to your hotel, pack your bags and leave for your onward journey.

You can also visit the nearby town of Guptkashi, which is famous for its ancient temples and natural beauty. Side trips to Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Rudranath can also be arranged, but they require a multi-day trek. To maximize your fun, you can try local delicacies like Kachmauli, Bal Mithai, and Singori. You can also participate in the local festivals and fairs if there are any during your visit.
