Sikkim 7-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    30 minutes (16.3 km) from Bagdogra Airport

    Visit the Enchey Monastery in the morning, followed by the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology in the afternoon. In the evening, enjoy a stroll through MG Marg, the main shopping street of Gangtok.

  2. Day 2: Tsomgo Lake
    1 hour and 30 minutes (38.8 km) from Gangtok

    Start your day early and head to Tsomgo Lake. Spend the morning boating on the lake and taking in the stunning views. In the afternoon, visit the Baba Mandir and Nathu La Pass for a glimpse of the Indo-China border. Return to Gangtok in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Pelling
    3 hours and 30 minutes (119 km) from Gangtok

    Visit the Pemayangtse Monastery in the morning, followed by the Rabdentse Ruins in the afternoon. In the evening, enjoy a scenic view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range from the Sangacholing Monastery.

  4. Day 4: Yumthang Valley
    5 hours and 30 minutes (148 km) from Pelling

    Start your day early and head to Yumthang Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers. Spend the day exploring the valley and taking in the stunning views of the Himalayan range. Return to Pelling in the evening.

  5. Day 5: Ravangla

    Visit the Ralang Monastery in the morning, followed by the Buddha Park in the afternoon. In the evening, enjoy a walk through the picturesque Tinkitam village.

  6. Day 6: Lachen
    6 hours and 30 minutes (180 km) from Ravangla

    Start your day early and head to Lachen. Spend the day exploring the Gurudongmar Lake and the Chopta Valley. Return to Ravangla in the evening.

  7. Day 7: Darjeeling
    3 hours and 30 minutes (97 km) from Ravangla

    Visit the Tiger Hill in the morning to watch the sunrise over the Kanchenjunga mountain range. Then, visit the Batasia Loop and the Ghum Monastery. In the afternoon, take a ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the 'Toy Train'. In the evening, enjoy a cup of Darjeeling tea at a local tea estate.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Zuluk Loop, the Gurudongmar Lake, and the Lachung Valley. You can also go on a trek to the Dzongri Peak or the Goecha La Pass. For a side trip, visit the nearby state of West Bengal and explore the hill stations of Kalimpong and Kurseong. Make sure to try the local cuisine, including momos, thukpa, and chaang. Keep in mind that June is the monsoon season, so be prepared for occasional rains and landslides.
