Sikkim Adventure Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gangtok
    From Bagdogra Airport, 4 hours (80 miles) via NH10

    Start the day with a visit to the Tashi View Point to see the sunrise over Kanchenjunga. Afterward, head to the Enchey Monastery and continue to the Do Drul Chorten Stupa. In the evening, explore the bustling bazaar at MG Road.

  2. Day 2: Lachung
    5 hours (68 miles) from Gangtok

    Start the day with an early morning visit to the Seven Sisters Waterfalls and stop by the Singhik View Point for a panoramic view of the Himalayan range. In the afternoon, drive to Lachung and explore the picturesque town.

  3. Day 3: Yumthang Valley
    2 hours (25 miles) from Lachung

    Explore the Yumthang Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers. Visit the Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary and see the hot springs in the area. In the afternoon, drive back to Lachung and spend the evening exploring the town.

  4. Day 4: Pelling
    7 hours (120 miles) from Lachung

    Drive to Pelling, stopping at the Khecheopalri Lake en route. Upon arriving in Pelling, visit the Pemayangtse Monastery and the Rabdentse Ruins.

  5. Day 5: Yuksom
    2 hours (36 miles) from Pelling

    Visit the Kanchenjunga National Park and go on a trek to the Dubdi Monastery in Yuksom. Afterward, visit the Norbugang Park and the coronation throne.

  6. Day 6: Nathula Pass
    5 hours (56 miles) from Yuksom

    Drive to the Nathula Pass, a mountain pass on the India-China border. Visit the Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple and the Tsomgo Lake. In the evening, return to Gangtok.

  7. Day 7: Rumtek Monastery
    45 minutes (10 miles) from Gangtok

    Visit the Rumtek Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Sikkim. Explore the nearby Lingdum Monastery before heading to the airport for your departure.

Recommendations

Consider visiting the Tshangu Lake or the town of Ravangla if time permits. For more adventure, you can go rafting on the Teesta River or trekking to the Goecha La Pass. To maximize your fun, try local cuisine such as momos and thukpa. Don't forget to pack warm clothes and rain gear, as the weather can be unpredictable.
