Two-Day Itinerary for North Goa on a Shoestring Budget in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Fort Aguada
    20 minutes (7.5 miles) from Thivim Railway Station

    Fort Aguada, located in Sinquerim, was built in the 17th century by the Portuguese to defend against the Dutch and Marathas. In the morning, explore the fort's lighthouse, Portuguese jail, and the magnificent sea view. Have lunch at a nearby restaurant and head to Baga Beach in the afternoon. Take a dip in the sea, shop for souvenirs and enjoy the beach shacks. Cap off your day at Club Tito's in the evening, known for its music and atmosphere.

  2. Day 2: Chapora Fort and Anjuna Flea Market
    30 minutes (11 miles) from Fort Aguada

    Chapora Fort is located in Bardez and was built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. Start your day early and hike up to the fort to enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Have lunch at a nearby restaurant and head to Anjuna Flea Market in the afternoon. The market offers a variety of items such as clothes, jewelry, and souvenirs. In the evening, visit the nearby Curlies Beach Shack and enjoy live music and delicious seafood.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest churches in India. You can also take a side trip to Dudhsagar Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India. To maximize your fun, try some local Goan cuisine like fish curry or vindaloo. Don't forget to bargain when shopping at the flea markets and beach shacks. Lastly, make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen to avoid sunburns.
