One-day Vancouver family itinerary for rainy/cold winter weather — December 26, 2025

Day 1 · Fri, Dec 26
Vancouver

Weather-friendly family day: indoor play, short outdoor strolls, and cozy meal

Morning:

Start your day a little later with hands-on fun at Vancouver Maritime Museum (family-friendly exhibits and the historic St. Roch ship kids can peek into), then head across to Children's Museum at the HR MacMillan Space Centre for interactive science play and short planetarium shows geared to young children. If the rain eases, finish the morning with a brisk, umbrella-ready stroll through Vanier Park to burn energy before lunch, keeping plans flexible for indoor alternatives nearby.

Afternoon:

After a hands-on morning, head to Science World at TELUS World of Science for the OMNIMAX shows and kid-friendly interactive galleries where little ones can press buttons, build, and explore under sheltered, warm spaces. Follow that with a relaxed, rainy-day romp at Granville Island Kids Market, where colorful indoor play areas, toy shops and a hot chocolate stop let the kids burn energy while you browse local treats-finish with a quick sheltered stroll along the covered parts of Granville Island Public Market if the weather allows.

Evening:

Wind down after a busy day with a cozy dinner and playtime at The Old Spaghetti Factory (Gastown) where family-friendly portions, a vintage trolley car booth and warm atmosphere make mealtime easy for rainy, early-evening outings. After dinner, take a short, umbrella-ready stroll through the nearby Gastown Steam Clock area to admire twinkling lights, then visit the sheltered indoor arcade and soft-play at Players' Playground at Roundhouse Community Centre (check evening drop-in times) for a last burst of energy before bed.
