Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary for Agra in November 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Iconic Taj Mahal
2 km (10 minutes) from Agra Cantonment Station

In the morning, you'll visit the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It's best to arrive early to avoid the crowds and the heat. After admiring the stunning architecture and taking memorable photos, you'll head to the Agra Fort in the afternoon. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is a magnificent structure that has served as a royal residence, a military fortress, and a prison. Finish the day with a visit to the Mehtab Bagh gardens for a peaceful stroll and a view of the Taj Mahal at sunset.

  2. Day 2: Explore the Local History and Culture
4 km (15 minutes) from Taj Mahal

Spend the morning at the Akbar Mausoleum, an impressive tomb of one of the greatest emperors of India. Next, head to the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, also known as the Baby Taj. This beautiful mausoleum is often overlooked but is just as impressive as the Taj Mahal, with intricate marble lattice work and stunning gardens. In the evening, enjoy a cultural show featuring local music, dance, and cuisine at Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Center.

  3. Day 3: Wildlife and Adventure
40 km (1 hour) from Agra city center

Take a day trip to the Keoladeo National Park, also known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to over 360 species of birds, including migratory birds that visit from as far as Siberia. Take a bicycle or boat tour to view the wildlife and beautiful landscapes. Return to Agra in the evening for a thrilling adventure at the Taj Nature Walk. This nature reserve offers a range of outdoor activities like zip-lining, rope-walking, and archery.

Apart from the popular attractions in Agra, you can visit the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri, which is just 40 km from Agra. You can also experience the rural life of India at Kachhpura Village, where you can interact with the locals and learn more about their traditions. If you have more time, you can plan a trip to the nearby city of Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna. Don't forget to try the local food like petha and chaat and shop for souvenirs at Sadar Bazaar and Kinari Bazaar.
