Cultural Immersion in Mathura - March 2024

  1. Day 1: Sri Krishna Janmasthan

    Start your day by visiting the birthplace of Lord Krishna, a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. Learn about the legends and history of Sri Krishna Janmasthan Temple. Witness the morning Aarti ritual inside the temple followed by a delicious breakfast of Kachori and Lassi from the local vendors. Spend the afternoon exploring the bazaars around the temple and indulge in some shopping for handicrafts, jewelry and traditional dresses. In the evening, witness the Sound and Light show depicting the life of Krishna.

  2. Day 2: Vishram Ghat and Dwarkadhish Temple

    Begin your day by taking a dip in the holy river Yamuna at Vishram Ghat and witness the morning Aarti. Later, visit Dwarkadhish Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna and known for its intricate architecture and beautiful paintings. Afternoon, head to Shri Krishna-Balaram Mandir, popularly known as ISKCON Temple to attend the afternoon Aarti and relish the delicious prasadam.   3. Day 3: Mathura Museum and Kusum Sarovar

    Start your day by visiting the Mathura Museum that houses an extensive collection of sculptures, paintings, and artifacts from the Gupta and Kushan periods. Post that, drive to Kusum Sarovar, a sacred tank surrounded by various temples and trees.   4. Day 4: Barsana and Nandgaon

    Today, visit Barsana and Nandgaon, the birthplace of Radha and Krishna respectively. Start with Barsana, known for its Lath Mar Holi, a unique festival where women beat men with sticks. Visit the Radha Rani Temple and experience the beautiful view of the town from the top. Later, head to Nandgaon, visit the Nand Bhavan temple and Radha Vallabh Temple. Traverse through the narrow alleys of the town, and witness the simplicity and beauty of rural life. Head back to Mathura for the evening.

  5. Day 5: Goverdhan Hill and Radha Kund
    45 minutes (22 km) from Mathura Junction

    Today's destination is the Goverdhan Hill, a sacred site and a popular pilgrimage spot for Hindus. Visit the famous Goverdhan Temple and walk around the hill to get a panoramic view of the town. Later, drive to Radha Kund, a holy pond and a popular site for devotees. Take a dip in the pond followed by a visit to the nearby temples like Radha Shyam Sundar Temple and Govind Deo Temple. Spend the evening at leisure.

  6. Day 6: Mathura Cuisine and Departure
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Mathura Junction

    Before leaving Mathura, indulge in the local cuisine and delicacies. Start with the famous Mathura Peda, a sweet milk-based dessert. Later, try the Kachori, Samosas, and Jalebis from the local food vendors. If time permits, visit the Prem Mandir, a beautifully designed temple dedicated to Radha Krishna. Post lunch, you can head back to the hotel to collect your luggage and leave for your destination.
