Day 1 · Sun, Apr 19
Lisbon

Start day

  1. Miradouro de Santa Luzia — Alfama — Classic tiled terrace with sweeping river views; a great low-key first stop as the evening light hits the old quarter, now/early evening, ~30 min.
  2. Alfama walk (Largo das Portas do Sol to São Miguel streets) — Alfama — Wander the steep lanes and viewpoints to get a feel for Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood, early evening, ~1 hour.
  3. Cervejaria Ramiro — Intendente — Iconic seafood spot for a proper Lisbon dinner; book if possible and expect a lively scene, dinner, ~1.5 hours, €35–€60 pp.
  4. Baixa / Praça do Comércio riverside stroll — Baixa — Easy post-dinner walk with open squares and Tagus views to round out the first night, late evening, ~45 min.

Early Evening

at Miradouro de Santa Luzia just as the light softens over Alfama — it’s one of those Lisbon spots that feels made for a first evening. The tiled terrace, bougainvillea, and river panorama are at their best around sunset, and it’s a very easy way to ease into the city without overdoing it on day one. From there, continue into the nearby lanes for the Alfama walk (Largo das Portas do Sol to São Miguel streets), drifting through steep cobbled streets, tiny local bars, laundry hanging above, and little viewpoints that open suddenly onto the Tagus. Give yourself time to get a bit lost here; that’s half the point. If you want a drink on the way, a small beer or a glass of vinho verde in this area usually runs about €3–€5.

Dinner

Head over to Cervejaria Ramiro in Intendente for dinner — it’s one of Lisbon’s classic seafood feasts, busy, loud, and absolutely worth it if you’re in the mood for a proper first-night meal. Book ahead if you can, because even on a Sunday it can be full; otherwise expect a wait and go with it. Order simply and well: prawns, garlic clams, scarlet prawns, crab, maybe a prego at the end if you still have room. Dinner here typically lands around €35–€60 per person depending on what you choose, and the pace is relaxed enough that it works nicely as your main anchor for the evening. From Alfama, it’s easiest by a short taxi/Uber ride, or by metro if you prefer, though for the first night a ride-share is the least fussy option.

Late Evening

After dinner, take a gentle post-meal walk down through Baixa to Praça do Comércio and the riverside. The square feels especially cinematic at night: wide-open, airy, and calmer than the hill neighborhoods you’ve just left, with the Tagus close enough to catch the salt in the air. It’s a good reset after the intensity of Alfama and the seafood rush at Ramiro, and the walk itself is easy — about 10 to 15 minutes if you’re moving directly, a little longer if you pause for photos. This is a nice final stretch of the night: no agenda, just a slow wander, then head back whenever you feel done.
