A Day in San Diego

  1. 9:00AM: Balboa Park
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Downtown San Diego

    Start your day at Balboa Park, a 1,200-acre urban cultural park. It is home to 17 museums, beautiful gardens, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Take a stroll through the lush gardens, and make sure to check out the Botanical Building, which houses more than 2,100 plants.

  2. 11:00AM: USS Midway Museum
    13 minutes (2.6 miles) from Balboa Park

    Continue your day with a visit to the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that is now a museum. Explore the ship, and learn about the history of naval aviation. Don't miss the flight simulators, which allow you to experience what it's like to fly a plane.

  3. 1:00PM: La Jolla Cove
    25 minutes (12.3 miles) from USS Midway Museum

    Take a break from the city and head to La Jolla Cove, a small beach surrounded by cliffs. Enjoy the ocean view and watch the seals and sea lions basking in the sun. If you're feeling adventurous, rent a kayak or go snorkeling in the clear waters.

  4. 3:00PM: Coronado Beach
    20 minutes (9.8 miles) from La Jolla Cove

    End your day at Coronado Beach, one of the best beaches in the country. Take a walk along the white sandy beach and enjoy views of the iconic Hotel Del Coronado. If you have time, stay for the sunset, which is breathtaking.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the San Diego Zoo or the Safari Park. If you're interested in history, check out the Cabrillo National Monument or the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. For a side trip, take a ferry to nearby Coronado Island or head to the nearby wineries for a tasting. Remember to pack sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes to make the most out of your day.
