Kedarnath 2-Day Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    Walking distance from Kedarnath Base Camp
    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the famous Kedarnath Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has great religious significance and is situated at a height of 11,755 feet above sea level. You will be surrounded by the beauty of the Himalayan ranges and the Mandakini river flowing beside the temple.
    Afternoon: After having lunch, you can trek to Bhairavnath Temple, which is located at a distance of 1.5 km from the Kedarnath Temple. It is believed that a visit to Kedarnath is incomplete without visiting the Bhairavnath Temple. The trekking route is scenic and adventurous.
    Evening: In the evening, take a dip in the Tapt Kund, a natural thermal spring located close to the Kedarnath Temple. The water is believed to have medicinal properties and can cure various ailments. It is also considered to be a ritual bath before entering the temple.
  2. Day 2: Gandhi Sarovar
    10.2 km from Kedarnath Base Camp
    Morning: Start early morning with a trek to Gandhi Sarovar, a beautiful glacial lake located at the foot of the Kedarnath peak. The trek is moderate and takes around 3-4 hours, but the view of the lake and the glacier is worth it. It is believed that Mahatma Gandhi had visited this place and hence it is named after him.
    Afternoon: After returning from Gandhi Sarovar, you can visit the Vasuki Tal, which is a high altitude lake located at a distance of 6 km from Kedarnath. The trekking route is challenging, but the view of the lake is mesmerizing and makes it worth the effort.
    Evening: In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset from the Kedarnath Temple. The temple has a mesmerizing view of the Himalayas and the sunset view is just breathtaking.

If you have time, you can also visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, which is located at a distance of 23 km from Kedarnath. The temple has great religious significance and is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. You can also go on a trek to the Vasuki Khal, which is a high-altitude pass that connects Kedarnath with Badrinath. You can maximize your fun by exploring the local markets and trying out the local food. Don't forget to carry warm clothes as the temperature can drop significantly in the evening and at night.
