3-Day Itinerary for Ooty in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Rose Garden
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Ooty Bus Stand

    In the morning, visit the Rose Garden, which boasts over 2000 variety of roses. Learn about the different types of roses, their origins, and maintenance. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Government Botanical Garden, which is home to a vast collection of exotic plants, ferns, trees, and shrubs, including a fossilized tree that is over 20 million years old. In the evening, take a stroll through the Ooty Lake, which is surrounded by eucalyptus trees and offers boating facilities.

  2. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak
    40 minutes (9.5 km) from Rose Garden

    Begin your day with a trip to Doddabetta Peak, the highest mountain in the Nilgiri Hills at 8,650 feet above sea level. The peak offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, forests and tea estates. In the afternoon, visit the Tea Museum, which provides a glimpse into the history of tea cultivation in this region. End your day with a visit to the tribal Toda huts, where you can learn about their unique culture, customs, and lifestyle.

  3. Day 3: Ooty Tribal Research Centre
    15 minutes (5.5 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Start your day by visiting the Tribal Research Centre, which showcases the traditional artifacts, weapons, musical instruments, and costumes of the local tribes. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Pykara Falls, which is a popular picnic spot amidst dense forests and lush greenery. You can also take a boat ride on the Pykara Lake. End your day with a visit to the St. Stephen's Church, which is one of the oldest churches in the Nilgiris built in the 19th century.
