Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Start at the Reichstag Building and allow about 1½ hours for security, the rooftop terrace and the glass dome. Dome entry is free, but you must register in advance with the Bundestag; bring photo ID and check the official site for available slots and any closure notices before you go. From there, it’s a short walk to Brandenburg Gate. Give yourself around 30 minutes at Pariser Platz to take in the gate and the grand government quarter around it.
Walk a few minutes south to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Spend time among the concrete stelae, then visit the underground information centre; allow 1–1½ hours, and keep voices low in this place of remembrance. The information centre’s opening days can vary, so check before your visit. For lunch, grab something nearby around Potsdamer Platz or Unter den Linden before continuing to Museum Island—about a 20-minute walk, or a short U-Bahn ride if you’d rather rest your feet.
Set aside 2–3 hours on Museum Island and choose one museum that fits your interests; the Neues Museum is a strong all-round pick, while the Alte Nationalgalerie suits art lovers. Opening days and admission vary by museum; expect roughly €12–€15 for many individual tickets, and check current prices and timed-entry requirements in advance. Finish with dinner at Zur letzten Instanz in Nikolaiviertel, a relaxed walk of about 20 minutes from the island. Book ahead if you can, and budget around €25–€45 per person for traditional Berlin dishes.
