Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Drive from Gurugram to Manali via NH 3, allowing roughly 12–15 hours door to door, plus meal and rest stops; traffic around Delhi and the mountain roads can stretch that further. Leave very early, share the driving if possible, and don’t count on reaching Manali with energy for a full sightseeing day. Check in, rest, and keep your car parked once you’re in town—the roads are tiring enough without adding unnecessary local driving.
After resting, visit Hidimba Devi Temple in Old Manali for its cedar-wood setting and distinctive pagoda-style architecture; allow about an hour. It’s generally open during daylight, but check locally for current hours, and bring a light layer for the wooded grounds. If you still feel up to it, take an easy hour-long wander through Old Manali’s village lanes and riverside paths. Then settle in at Johnson’s Cafe for dinner; budget around ₹800–1,500 per person, and check that it’s open when you arrive, as hours can vary seasonally.
Stay overnight in Manali: Rohtang Pass is not a realistic same-day excursion after the drive from Gurugram. Plan it for a separate day, allowing about 4–6 hours round trip from Manali; access is seasonal and depends on road conditions and any required permit, so verify current status and booking requirements before setting out. The drive back from Manali to Gurugram also takes roughly 12–15 hours plus breaks. Make that a later day, not tonight; leave early, and consider adding another overnight if you’re including Rohtang rather than attempting a long mountain outing and return drive back-to-back.
