Two-Day Goa Itinerary

Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.

Day 1
North Goa

North Goa

  1. Fort Aguada — Sinquerim; explore the historic fort and lighthouse viewpoint in the morning, ~1 hour.
  2. Candolim–Calangute Beach — Candolim/Calangute; enjoy a relaxed beach walk and swimming, late morning, ~1.5 hours.
  3. Thalassa — Vagator; have a Greek-style lunch with cliffside views, early afternoon, ~1.5 hours, approximately ₹1,000–₹1,800 per person.
  4. Chapora Fort — Chapora; visit the laterite fort for broad views over the Chapora River and coast, late afternoon, ~1 hour.
  5. Anjuna Flea Market area — Anjuna; browse local handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs, late afternoon or evening, ~1.5 hours. Market days and hours vary, so verify locally.

Morning

Start at Fort Aguada in Sinquerim, arriving around 8:00–8:30am before the heat builds. Allow about an hour for the ramparts, old lighthouse area, and sea views; the fort complex generally opens in daylight hours, but the lighthouse section may have separate access. Entry is usually nominal, roughly ₹20–₹50, with limited shade and uneven stone underfoot. From there, drive 10–20 minutes north to the Candolim–Calangute Beach stretch. A relaxed walk and swim fit well late morning—use a marked swimming area, keep valuables with your hotel or driver, and expect beach shacks to charge approximately ₹150–₹400 for loungers or minimum consumption.

Lunch and Afternoon

Continue by taxi or scooter toward Thalassa in Vagator, allowing 25–40 minutes depending on traffic through Anjuna and Vagator. Book ahead, particularly for a cliffside table or weekend lunch, and budget about ₹1,000–₹1,800 per person; the drive and restaurant seating can easily take the full 1.5 hours. After lunch, take a short ride to Chapora Fort for an hour of broad views over the Chapora River and coastline. The approach involves a steep, exposed walk, so carry water and wear proper footwear; late afternoon is much more comfortable than midday, and sunset crowds can make parking tight.

Evening

Finish around the Anjuna Flea Market area, reached in roughly 15–25 minutes from Chapora Fort. Browse the small shops and stalls for cotton clothing, handicrafts, jewellery, and souvenirs, but verify locally whether the main market is operating: the traditional flea market is typically associated with Wednesday and seasonal/event schedules, while nearby boutiques and pop-up stalls may operate on other days. Carry cash for smaller vendors and bargain politely. For a smoother day, hire a taxi for the sequence—parking and one-way drop-offs are easier than repeatedly searching for spaces—and expect roughly ₹1,500–₹2,500 for a full-day North Goa car, excluding meals and entry fees.

Day 2
South Goa

South Goa

Getting there from North Goa
Private taxi via NH66, ideally departing around 7:00–7:30am (1.5–2.5 hours depending on your North Goa base and traffic, approximately ₹1,500–₹2,500). Book through GoaMiles or a reputable hotel/taxi desk. This lets you visit Old Goa first and continue to Mangueshi, Quepem, Betalbatim, and Colva without changing transport.
Rental car via NH66 (1.5–2.5 hours, roughly ₹1,500–₹3,000 per day plus fuel). Book through a local rental agency or Discover Cars; best if you want flexibility for the multiple stops, but parking and navigation add effort.
  1. Basilica of Bom Jesus — Old Goa; see the renowned Baroque church and its historic art, morning, ~1 hour.
  2. Sé Cathedral — Old Goa; visit one of Goa’s most important Portuguese-era cathedrals, morning, ~45 minutes.
  3. Shri Mangueshi Temple — Priol; experience Goa’s distinctive Hindu temple architecture, late morning, ~1 hour. Dress modestly and check visitor rules.
  4. Palácio do Deão — Quepem; tour the riverside heritage mansion and gardens, early afternoon, ~1.5 hours. Advance confirmation is advisable.
  5. Martin’s Corner — Betalbatim; enjoy Goan seafood and regional specialties for lunch or an early dinner, ~1.5 hours, approximately ₹800–₹1,500 per person.
  6. Colva Beach — Colva; finish with a sunset walk along South Goa’s broad sandy shoreline, evening, ~1 hour.

Morning

Have your private taxi leave North Goa around 7:00–7:30am, allowing 1.5–2.5 hours via NH66 before beginning the Old Goa circuit. Ask the driver to wait or remain available for the full day; this is much easier than finding separate rides between the heritage sites and Quepem. Start at the Basilica of Bom Jesus, allowing about an hour for the Baroque interior and the historic art associated with St Francis Xavier. Then walk across the heritage precinct to Sé Cathedral, another 45 minutes. Go early for cooler temperatures and fewer tour groups; church access is generally during daytime visiting hours, but services can temporarily restrict entry, so dress respectfully and keep shoulders and knees covered.

Continue by taxi to Shri Mangueshi Temple in Priol, roughly 30–40 minutes depending on traffic, for a late-morning visit of about an hour. Remove footwear before entering, dress modestly, and follow posted rules about photography and access to the inner areas. Temple timings and visitor permissions can vary around ceremonies, so treat the visit as conditional rather than relying on a guaranteed entry slot. Keep some cash for donations, lockers, or small refreshments.

Afternoon and Evening

From Priol, allow roughly 45–60 minutes to reach Palácio do Deão in Quepem. This riverside heritage mansion is best experienced slowly—give it about 1.5 hours for the house, gardens, and stories of its Portuguese-Goan past. Advance confirmation is advisable because access may be by guided visit and operating hours can change; your driver should call ahead while you are en route. Continue north-west toward Martin’s Corner in Betalbatim, usually another 35–45 minutes, for a late lunch or early dinner. Order regional seafood or Goan specialties and budget approximately ₹800–₹1,500 per person; arriving between peak lunch and dinner hours can make the meal more relaxed, though it is wise to check table availability in advance.

Finish at Colva Beach, about 15–20 minutes away, for an unhurried sunset walk along the broad shoreline. Stay near the busier central stretch if you want an easy pickup, or ask the driver to drop you slightly south for a quieter stroll. Keep valuables with you and avoid swimming after dark; beach conditions and lifeguard coverage vary.### Morning
