One Day Itinerary for Rishikesh in June 2023

  1. 8:00AM: Triveni Ghat
10 minutes (2.5 km) from Rishikesh Bus Stand

Triveni Ghat is a famous ghat on the banks of the Ganges River where locals and tourists offer prayers, take a dip in the holy water, and witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening. Early morning is the best time to visit as it's less crowded, and you can enjoy the serene view of the river and the sunrise.

  2. 10:00AM: Beatles Ashram
15 minutes (4 km) from Triveni Ghat

The Beatles Ashram is also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram where the Beatles stayed in 1968 to learn transcendental meditation. The ashram was abandoned for many years, and now it's open for tourists to explore the graffitis and the nature walk. You can also attend a yoga class or visit the Beatles museum.

  3. 12:00PM: Rajaji National Park
1 hour 20 minutes (38 km) from Beatles Ashram

Rajaji National Park is a perfect place for wildlife lovers and adventure seekers. You can do a safari ride and spot animals like elephants, tigers, leopards, and many more. The park also has trekking trails, bird watching spots, and a beautiful waterfall called Neer Garh.

  4. 4:00PM: Ram Jhula Bridge
1 hour (20 km) from Rajaji National Park

Ram Jhula is an iconic suspension bridge that connects the two banks of the Ganges river. It's a popular spot for photography, shopping, and street food. You can also visit the many temples and ashrams around the area, like Parmarth Niketan and Gita Bhavan.

  5. 6:00PM: Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan
10 minutes (1.5 km) from Ram Jhula Bridge

Ganga Aarti is a Hindu ritual of worshipping the river Ganges with fire lamps, mantras, and hymns. The ceremony takes place every evening at Parmarth Niketan, and it's a spiritual experience that you shouldn't miss. The ambiance and the view of the river and the mountains make it even more magical.

Recommendations

Rishikesh has a lot to offer, and one day is not enough to explore everything. However, you can also consider visiting Laxman Jhula, Neer Garh Waterfall, Vashishta Gufa, or attending a meditation retreat. If you have more time, you can also plan a side trip to Haridwar, Dehradun, or Mussoorie. To maximize your fun, you can also try river rafting, bungee jumping, camping, or hiking. Don't forget to try local delicacies like momos, chaat, and lassi. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!
