3-Day Nature Itinerary for Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (0.7 km) from Kedarnath Helipad

    In the morning, visit the famous Kedarnath Temple, one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and located near the Mandakini River, the temple is an architectural marvel. Afternoon is perfect for trekking to Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, home to musk deer, snow leopards, and many plant species. In the evening, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake situated at an altitude of 4,150 metres.

  2. Day 2: Chorabari Tal
    4 hours (6.3 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Start your day by visiting Gandhi Sarovar, a lake that offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayas. Then, trek to Chorabari Tal, also known as Deoriatal, situated at an altitude of 2,438 metres. The lake is surrounded by lush green forests and offers a serene environment. In the evening, you can visit the Sonprayag Market, famous for woolen clothes and local handicrafts.

  3. Day 3: Vasistha Cave and Shankaracharya Samadhi
    4 hours (17.2 km) from Chorabari Tal

    Begin your day by trekking to the Vasistha Cave, where the great sage Vashishta is believed to have meditated. The cave is located on the banks of the Mandakini River and offers a serene environment. Afterward, you can visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi, dedicated to Adi Shankaracharya, one of the greatest philosophers and theologians of India. Take a dip in the Kedarnath Hot Springs, known for their medicinal properties, in the evening.
