3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Bhubaneswar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Lingaraj Temple
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Bhubaneswar Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Lingaraj Temple, one of the largest and oldest temples in Bhubaneswar. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a unique Kalinga architectural style. You can also see the beautiful sculptures on the temple walls. In the afternoon, head to the Odisha State Museum to explore the rich history and culture of Odisha. The museum houses a collection of ancient sculptures, paintings, weapons, and manuscripts. For the evening, visit the Dhauli Hill to witness the peace pagoda, which symbolizes world peace. The hill also has ancient rock edicts of Emperor Ashoka.

  2. Day 2: Nandankanan Zoological Park
    30 minutes (20 km) from Lingaraj Temple

    Spend the whole day at Nandankanan Zoological Park, which is home to various rare and endangered animals such as white tigers, Asiatic lions, and Indian crocodile. The zoo also has a botanical garden and a lake where you can enjoy boating. In the evening, visit the Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves, ancient rock-cut caves that have beautiful carvings and inscriptions.

  3. Day 3: Rajarani Temple and Mukteswara Temple
    20 minutes (5 km) from Nandankanan Zoological Park

    Start your day by visiting the Rajarani Temple, a unique temple made of red and gold sandstone. The temple is famous for its intricate carvings and beautiful sculptures. In the afternoon, head to the Mukteswara Temple, which is known for its beautiful architecture and carvings. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a unique torana, or arched gateway. For the evening, visit the Ekamra Haat, a traditional marketplace where you can shop for handicrafts and try local food.
