Two-Day Itinerary for Rishikesh in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Neer Garh Waterfall
30 minutes (9.2 km) from Rishikesh

Start your day early and head to Neer Garh Waterfall, a hidden gem in the outskirts of Rishikesh. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the cold water and take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. After spending the morning at the waterfall, head to Ram Jhula for a vegetarian lunch at Choti Wala restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram, the abandoned ashram where the Beatles stayed in 1968. Take a peaceful walk through the graffiti-covered walls and meditate in one of the empty rooms. End the day with an evening aarti ceremony at Parmarth Niketan, one of the largest ashrams in Rishikesh.

  2. Day 2: Kunjapuri Temple and Ganga Aarti
1 hour 15 minutes (23.8 km) from Rishikesh

Start the day early and head to Kunjapuri Temple, located at the top of a hill. Watch the sunrise and take in the stunning views of the Himalayas. After the temple visit, head to the Rishikesh market for some souvenir shopping and lunch at Madras Cafe. In the afternoon, visit Triveni Ghat, where the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers converge. Witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening, where priests perform a prayer ritual with fire, bells, and flowers. End your day with a walk along the Laxman Jhula bridge, a suspension bridge that offers great views of the Ganges river.

Recommendations

Aside from the attractions mentioned in the itinerary, you may also consider visiting the Rajaji National Park, a wildlife sanctuary located 1 hour 30 minutes (39.4 km) from Rishikesh, or trying out adventure sports like white-water rafting, bungee jumping, or zip-lining. If you have more time, consider taking a side trip to Haridwar, a holy city located 1 hour (20 km) from Rishikesh, or visiting the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, located 1 hour 30 minutes (35 km) from Rishikesh.

To maximize your fun in Rishikesh, make sure to stay hydrated, wear comfortable and modest clothing, and be respectful of the local culture and customs. Don't forget to try the local street food and chai, and consider hiring a local guide for a more immersive experience.
