A 2-Day Adventure Itinerary in Coorg for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Dubare Elephant Camp
    30 minutes (16.2 km) from Coorg

    Experience a unique morning with elephants at Dubare Elephant Camp. Watch the elephants being bathed, fed, and trained by their mahouts. Take an elephant ride around the camp to see the forest from a different perspective. In the afternoon, head to Abbey Falls, a beautiful waterfall in the middle of the lush green forest. Take a dip in the pool of the waterfall, or simply sit and relax while enjoying the beautiful scenery. In the evening, visit Raja's Seat, a picturesque viewpoint offering stunning views of the hills and valleys at sunset.

  2. Day 2: Tadiandamol Peak
    1 hour 30 minutes (35.5 km) from Coorg

    Embark on an exciting trek to Tadiandamol Peak, the highest peak in Coorg. The trek is approximately 8 km long and takes around 4 hours to complete. Along the way, you'll pass through picturesque valleys, streams, and dense forests. Once you reach the summit, enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the afternoon, head to the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching center of Tibetan Buddhism in the world outside of Tibet. Witness the daily life of the monks, admire the golden statues and colorful paintings, and immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of this sacred place. In the evening, stroll down the streets of Madikeri to explore the local markets and taste the famous Coorgi cuisine.

For adventure enthusiasts, Coorg has many more options to offer. You can go white water rafting in the Barapole River, zip-lining through the forest canopy, or take a jeep safari into the Nagarhole National Park. If you have extra time, you can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Kushalnagar to visit the Cauvery Nisargadhama, an island formed by the Cauvery River, or the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement, the second largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet. To maximize your fun, make sure to pack comfortable clothes and shoes, sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water. Lastly, don't forget to try the local coffee and purchase some spices to take home as souvenirs.
