Four-Day Ajmer Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Ajmer Dargah Sharif
    5 minutes (1.1 km) from Ajmer Railway Station

    A visit to the famous Ajmer Dargah Sharif is a must when in Ajmer. The shrine is dedicated to the Sufi Saint Moinuddin Chishti and is one of the holiest places for Muslims in India. The morning hours are the best time to visit as the crowd is less and you can peacefully offer your prayers. Afternoon and evening can be spent exploring the nearby markets for some shopping or enjoying some local delicacies.

  2. Day 2: Taragarh Fort and Ana Sagar Lake
    15 minutes (3.7 km) from Ajmer Dargah Sharif

    Start your day by visiting the Taragarh Fort, also known as the 'Star Fort.' It is one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan and offers a panoramic view of the city. Afterward, head to Ana Sagar Lake, a beautiful artificial lake surrounded by lush greenery. You can enjoy a boat ride or take a leisurely walk around the lake. You can spend the evening at the nearby Ajmer Club for some relaxation and entertainment.

  3. Day 3: Ajmer Jain Temple and Nareli Jain Temple
    20 minutes (7.7 km) from Ana Sagar Lake

    Begin your day by visiting Ajmer Jain Temple, also known as Soniji Ki Nasiyan. This temple is a beautiful example of Jain architecture and is dedicated to Rishabh Dev, the first Jain Tirthankara. Afterward, head to Nareli Jain Temple, located on the outskirts of Ajmer. It is a newly built temple with intricate marble carvings and beautiful gardens. Spend the evening exploring the nearby Pushkar town famous for its Brahma Temple and Pushkar Lake.

  4. Day 4: Adhai Din Ka Jhopra and Mayo College
    15 minutes (3.4 km) from Pushkar

    On your last day, start by visiting Adhai Din Ka Jhopra, a mosque built-in 1192 by Qutub-ud-Din-Aibak. The mosque has an interesting history and is also famous for its beautiful architecture. Afterward, head to Mayo College, one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in India. You can take a guided tour of the campus and the museum. In the evening, you can head to the nearby Foy Sagar Lake for some relaxation and stunning sunset views.

While in Ajmer, you should also consider visiting the Akbari Fort and Museum, which houses a collection of Mughal and Rajput weapons, armor, and miniature paintings. Another great side trip is the Kishangarh Fort, located about 30 km from Ajmer. It is an impressive fort built-in 1649 and is a great place to explore and learn more about Rajasthan's history. To maximize your fun, you can also go for a hot air balloon ride or a camel safari, which are popular activities in Ajmer.
