7-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

  6. Day 6: Rudra Cave Trek

    Embark on a trek to Rudra Cave, a sacred cave located at an altitude of 2,286 meters above sea level. The trek starts from Gaurikund and passes through beautiful forests and meadows. The cave is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva meditated before going to Kedarnath. Spend the day trekking and enjoying the scenic beauty of the Himalayan range. Return to Kedarnath by evening.

  7. Day 7: Bhairavnath Temple
    10 minutes drive (5 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Visit the Bhairavnath Temple, a small temple located on a hill overlooking Kedarnath. The temple is dedicated to Lord Bhairav, who is believed to be the protector of the Kedarnath Temple. Trek to the nearby Gandhi Sarovar Lake, located about 5 km from Kedarnath. The lake is named after Mahatma Gandhi and is a popular spot for trekking and picnicking. End your adventure in Kedarnath with a visit to the local market and a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, consider taking a side trip to the nearby town of Guptkashi and visit the ancient temples there. You can also take a dip in the natural hot springs at Gauri Kund.
