2-Day Itinerary for Coorg in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 15 minutes (28.3 miles) from Coorg

    In the morning, we will visit Talacauvery, the birthplace of the river Cauvery. It is a holy place for Hindus and has a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Brahma. Afternoon, we will go to Bhagamandala, where the Cauvery river meets two other rivers, Kannike and Sujyoti. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva here. In the evening, we can take a dip in the holy waters of Triveni Sangama and witness the evening aarti ceremony.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp and Abbey Falls
    1 hour 30 minutes (30.8 miles) from Bhagamandala

    In the morning, we will visit Dubare Elephant Camp, where we can feed and bathe the elephants. Afternoon, we will go to Abbey Falls, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by coffee and spice plantations. We can take a short trek to reach the falls. In the evening, we can explore the Madikeri Fort and witness the sound and light show.

In addition to the above itinerary, you can also consider visiting the Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple. It is a beautiful Buddhist monastery with stunning gold-plated statues. You can also go for a trek in the Brahmagiri hills or explore the coffee plantations. Another option is to visit the Nagarhole National Park, which is home to various wildlife species, including tigers, elephants, and leopards. You can maximize your fun by trying out the local cuisine, including bamboo shoot curry, pandi curry, and kadumbuttu. Don't forget to try the locally grown coffee and spices.
