6-Day Itinerary for Paris in August 2023

  1. Day 1: The Louvre Museum
    25 minutes (2.5 miles) from Charles De Gaulle Airport

    In the morning, visit the world's largest art museum that houses more than 35,000 works of art. Afterward, have lunch at Cafe Marly, which offers an excellent view of the Louvre Pyramid. Spend the afternoon exploring the Tuileries Garden, situated between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. In the evening, head to Saint Germain des Pres for dinner at Les Deux Magots, where famous writers and artists such as Hemingway and Picasso used to spend their time.

  2. Day 2: Eiffel Tower
    20 minutes (1.8 miles) from Saint Germain des Pres

    Start the day with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower and take the elevator to the top for a beautiful view of Paris. Have lunch at Le Jules Verne, a restaurant located on the second floor of the tower. In the afternoon, head to the Invalides, a complex that houses museums and monuments relating to the military history of France. End the day with a boat tour on the Seine River that offers stunning views of the city's landmarks at night.

  3. Day 3: Palace of Versailles
    40 minutes (12.5 miles) from the Eiffel Tower

    Take a day trip to the Palace of Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous palaces in the world. Explore the palace's opulent interiors, gardens, and fountains. Have lunch at La Flottille, a restaurant located on a small island in the middle of the Grand Canal.   4. Day 4: Notre-Dame Cathedral and Sainte-Chapelle
    30 minutes (2.5 miles) from Montmartre

    Visit Notre-Dame Cathedral in the morning and admire the Gothic architecture and stained glass windows. Afterward, cross the Seine River to visit Sainte-Chapelle, a royal chapel that houses some of the most extensive and beautiful stained glass windows in the world. Have lunch at Cafe Saint Regis, a cozy cafe located just across the street from Notre-Dame. In the afternoon, explore the Latin Quarter, a historic neighborhood that is home to the Sorbonne University and many lively cafes, bars, and restaurants.

  5. Day 5: Musee d'Orsay and Luxembourg Gardens
    20 minutes (1.5 miles) from the Latin Quarter

    Begin the day with a visit to the Musee d'Orsay, which houses one of the world's largest collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings. Have lunch at Les Ombres, a rooftop restaurant located in the Musée du Quai Branly that offers a panoramic view of the city. Spend the afternoon at the Luxembourg Gardens, a beautiful park that features a palace, fountains, and sculptures. In the evening, head to the Marais, a trendy neighborhood that is home to many boutiques, galleries, and restaurants.

  6. Day 6: Montparnasse Tower and Catacombs of Paris
    25 minutes (1.2 miles) from the Marais

    Visit the Montparnasse Tower in the morning and take the elevator to the top for a panoramic view of the city. Have lunch at Le Ciel de Paris, a restaurant located on the 56th floor of the tower. In the afternoon, visit the Catacombs of Paris, an underground ossuary that contains the remains of approximately six million people. In the evening, head to Le Marais for dinner at L'As du Fallafel, a famous falafel stand that is a favorite among locals and tourists alike.

If you have extra time, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Palace of Fontainebleau, which is located about an hour outside of Paris and is known for its stunning gardens and interiors.
