Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can visit the nearby towns of Badrinath and Yamunotri, also part of the Chota Char Dham pilgrimage. It is recommended to hire a local guide for the treks and carry sufficient food and water for the journey. Try the local Garhwali cuisine, especially the Kachmauli dish made of goat meat, and shop for souvenirs made of wool and rhododendron wood.

If you want to maximize fun, you can go for whitewater rafting in the nearby Alaknanda River or visit the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary to spot some Himalayan wildlife. Helicopter services are available for visiting Kedarnath and nearby areas. Book hotels and flights at https://booking.tp.st/VhZsadPo.
