3-Day Family-Friendly Wayanad Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore the Natural Wonders of Wayanad

    In the morning, visit the breathtaking Soochipara Waterfalls. Enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool waters or trek up to the top of the falls for a panoramic view. For lunch, head to the Pulpally Cave Restaurant for some delicious local cuisine. In the afternoon, take a scenic drive to the Edakkal Caves, known for their ancient rock art and stunning views of the Western Ghats. Finally, end the day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Take a boat ride or simply relax by the serene lake.

  2. Day 2: Wildlife and Adventure
    45 minutes (18.8 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, head to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary for a thrilling jeep safari. Spot elephants, tigers, leopards and many other animals in their natural habitat. After lunch, visit the Karapuzha Dam for some serene views and an enjoyable boating experience. As the sun begins to set, journey to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, for a trek to the heart-shaped Chembra Lake. Overlook the beauty of Wayanad from the top and take some memorable pictures. Note: The Chembra Peak trek requires a permit and is closed during the monsoon season (June-September).

  3. Day 3: Cultural and Historical Exploration
    30 minutes (12.9 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, visit the Wayanad Heritage Museum, which showcases the rich history and culture of Wayanad. After that, visit the Jain Temple in Sulthan Bathery, known for its exquisite architecture and intricate carvings. For lunch, head to the Empuraan Restaurant for some mouth-watering seafood. In the afternoon, visit the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, surrounded by beautiful mountains and forests. Finally, end the day with a relaxing walk through the lush greenery of the Uravu Bamboo Grove.

If you have more time, you can consider visiting the Kuruva Island, a beautiful uninhabited island with dense forest and exotic flora and fauna, or the Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary, a paradise for bird watchers.
