Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary for Ooty in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Ooty Lake
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Ooty Bus Station

    In the morning, take a leisurely boat ride on the picturesque Ooty Lake. The Lake is surrounded by eucalyptus trees that add to the beauty of the place. After lunch, head to the Thread Garden where you can see an incredible collection of plants and flowers, all made from thread. In the evening, visit the Government Botanical Garden, which has more than a thousand species of plants and trees, including an impressive fossil tree that is about 20 million years old.

  2. Day 2: Doddabetta Peak and Rose Garden
    40 minutes (10.8 km) from Ooty Lake

    Start your day early with a visit to the Doddabetta Peak, which is the highest point of the Nilgiri Mountains. You can enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys from the top. After breakfast, head to the Rose Garden, which is the largest rose garden in India and home to more than 20,000 varieties of roses. In the evening, visit the St. Stephen's Church, which is the oldest church in Ooty and showcases beautiful stained-glass windows.

  3. Day 3: Pykara Falls and Mudumalai National Park
    1 hour 30 minutes (44.2 km) from Doddabetta Peak

    Start your day early with a visit to Pykara Falls, which is a two-stage waterfall located in the Pykara village. You can take a dip in the cool waters or enjoy a picnic with your family. After lunch, head to Mudumalai National Park, which is home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, leopards, elephants, and deer. You can take a guided safari tour of the park and get a chance to spot some of these magnificent creatures. In the evening, visit the Tea Factory and Museum, which is a great place to learn about the process of tea production and sampling different varieties of tea.
