2-Day Adventure Itinerary for Gokarna in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kudle Beach
    15 minutes (2.5 km) from Gokarna Bus Stand

    Morning: Start your day with a refreshing swim in the Arabian Sea at Kudle Beach. The beach is relatively less crowded and provides ample opportunities for surfing, kayaking and banana boat rides. Do not forget to capture the breathtaking views of the ocean from the cliff top.

    Afternoon: Grab a bite at one of the shacks lined up on the beach and relish some local sea food. Later, you can take a leisurely stroll to the nearby Om Beach, which is about a 25-minute walk away.

    Evening: Head to the Namaste Yoga Farm and enroll in a yoga class. The classes are conducted in open-air platforms that provide beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding hills. End your day with a bonfire by the beach under the starlit sky.

  2. Day 2: Yana Caves
    1 hour 30 minutes (55 km) from Gokarna Bus Stand

    Morning: Start early and hit the road to Yana Caves, which is about 55 kilometers from Gokarna. The drive through the Ghats is scenic and provides stunning views of the Western Ghats. Once you reach Yana, you can take a guided trek to the caves that takes about 45 minutes. The caves are nestled between two rock formations and house a Shiva Linga.

    Afternoon: Head to Vibhooti Falls, which is about an hour's drive from Yana. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and provides an opportunity to swim in the natural pool.

    Evening: Return to Gokarna and indulge in some street shopping at the Gokarna Market. The market is lined with shops selling beachwear, jewellery, handicrafts and souvenirs.

Recommendations

While in Gokarna, do not miss a trek to the Paradise Beach, which can be accessed only by foot. You can also visit the Mahabaleshwar Temple, one of the holiest shrines in the region. If you have an extra day, you can consider taking a trip to the nearby Murdeshwar, which is famous for its towering statue of Lord Shiva and the Murdeshwar Temple.

For adventure seekers, a trek to the Kumara Parvatha, which is the second highest peak in the Western Ghats, can be a thrilling experience. You can also indulge in water sports at the nearby beaches, including Om Beach, Half Moon Beach and Paradise Beach.
