Two-Day Itinerary for Udupi in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Sri Krishna Matha Temple
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Udupi Railway Station

    Start your day at the Sri Krishna Matha Temple, one of the most famous Hindu temples in Udupi. The temple is known for its intricate architecture and religious significance. In the morning, witness the Paryaya festival where the temple's administration is handed over to another temple for two years. Afternoon, visit the Anantheshwara Temple which is right opposite Sri Krishna Matha Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its beautiful carvings. End your day at the Malpe Beach to enjoy the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Kudlu theertha Falls and St. Mary's Island
    1 hour 15 minutes (30 miles) from Udupi Railway Station

    Start your day early and head to Kudlu theertha Falls, a scenic waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. The water is pristine and you can take a dip in the natural pool. Afternoon, visit the St. Mary's Island, known for its unique rock formations and crystal-clear waters. Take a ferry from Malpe Beach to the island. In the evening, visit the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha Museum, which houses a rich collection of artefacts and paintings depicting the life of Lord Krishna.

Recommendations

Apart from the above-mentioned places, you can also visit the Udupi Backwaters and Kapu Beach. You can also take a side trip to Manipal, a university town known for its beautiful campus and educational institutions. A visit to the Manipal Anatomy Museum is highly recommended. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially the Udupi cuisine which is popular worldwide. You can also indulge in some shopping at the City Centre Mall or the Diana Mall.
