A Day in Waynad

  1. 9:00AM: Banasura Sagar Dam
    1 hour (20.5 km) from Kalpetta

    Banasura Sagar Dam, located in the southwestern part of Wayanad, is the largest earthen dam in the country and the second-largest in Asia. Surrounded by the Banasura hills, it offers a breathtaking view of the mountains and the reservoir. You can also enjoy boating and trekking around the dam.

    Chembra Peak is the highest peak in Wayanad, located at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level. Trekking to the peak takes around 3-4 hours, and you can witness the heart-shaped lake on the way. The trek is a bit challenging but worth it for the panoramic view of the valley from the top.

    Pookode Lake is a freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery and rolling hills. You can enjoy boating, feeding fish, and exploring the nearby aquarium and children's park. The lake is also known for its diverse aquatic life, including blue lotus and freshwater fishes.

  5. 6:00PM: Lakkidi View Point
    30 minutes (9.8 km) from Pookode Lake

    Lakkidi View Point is the gateway to Wayanad and offers a panoramic view of the valley and the Western Ghats. The viewpoint is located at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, and you can enjoy the sunset and the cool breeze from the mountains.
