Kodaikanal 3-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Pillar Rocks
    15 minutes (7.4 km) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

    Pillar Rocks is a must-see attraction in Kodaikanal, offering breathtaking views of three massive rock pillars standing tall amidst lush greenery. Starting your day here, you can take a leisurely stroll around the area and enjoy the serene surroundings. In the afternoon, you can visit the Guna Caves, a unique natural formation with narrow, dark passages that are believed to have been used by the Pandavas during their exile. In the evening, head to Coaker's Walk, a picturesque pathway offering panoramic views of the valley.

  2. Day 2: Kodaikanal Lake

    Starting your day at Kodaikanal Lake, you can enjoy boating or take a stroll along the lake's perimeter. In the afternoon, visit the Bryant Park, a beautifully landscaped park with a wide variety of flowers, hybrids, and rafts. In the evening, head to the Silver Cascade Falls, a stunning waterfall located on the way to Kodaikanal from Madurai. The waterfall is named for its silver-like appearance as the water cascades down the rocks.

  3. Day 3: Berijam Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (20.7 km) from Kodaikanal Bus Stand

    On your final day in Kodaikanal, head to the Berijam Lake, a beautiful reservoir located in the midst of dense forests. The lake offers a great spot for birdwatching and is home to several species of birds. In the afternoon, visit the Pine Forest, a dense forest of pine trees that offer a refreshing break from the heat. In the evening, head to the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, one of the oldest solar observatories in the country.

Aside from the places mentioned in the itinerary, you may also want to visit the Kurinji Andavar Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Murugan, which is known for its Kurinji flower that blooms only once in 12 years. You can also consider taking a side trip to Palani Hills, a stunning hill station located about 100 km from Kodaikanal. To maximize your fun, you can also try out some of the local delicacies such as the famous Kodaikanal Cheese, Kodai Lake Fish, and homemade chocolates. Finally, don't forget to take a stroll through the local markets to pick up some souvenirs.
