Bachelor Party Itinerary for Amritsar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: The Golden Temple
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Amritsar Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, we will visit The Golden Temple, which is also known as Sri Harmandir Sahib. It is the most sacred place of the Sikh religion and a serene place that will leave you in awe. We will witness the Palki ceremony, which is when the Holy book is carried to its resting place. After that, we will indulge in the Langar, where everyone is served food for free, irrespective of religion or caste. The afternoon can be spent shopping for souvenirs at Hall Bazaar, which is a market near the temple. In the evening, we will visit the Wagah Border, which is the borderline separating India and Pakistan. The Beating Retreat ceremony is held here every evening, where soldiers from both countries engage in a friendly display of patriotism.

  2. Day 2: Jallianwala Bagh and Heritage Street
    5 minutes (1.5 km) from The Golden Temple

    This morning, we will visit Jallianwala Bagh, a public garden that witnessed one of the most tragic incidents in Indian history. The British army opened fire on unarmed Indian civilians, and it is said that bullet marks can still be seen on the walls. We will pay homage to the martyrs at the Martyrs' Well and the Flame of Freedom. In the afternoon, we will explore the newly-constructed Heritage Street, which is a pedestrian-only street lined with shops and restaurants. We can try some of the local delicacies like Amritsari Kulcha and Lassi. In the evening, we can visit the Gobindgarh Fort, which is a historical fort built during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. We can witness the Light and Sound show that narrates the story of the fort and its significance in Indian history.

  3. Day 3: Ram Bagh and Sadda Pind
    15 minutes (4.6 km) from Gobindgarh Fort

    This morning, we will visit Ram Bagh, which is a beautiful garden that was built during the reign of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The garden has various structures that reflect the rich Sikh architecture. We can also visit the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, which showcases the life and times of the Maharaja. In the afternoon, we will visit Sadda Pind, which is a cultural village that gives a glimpse of Punjabi culture and heritage. We can indulge in various activities like tractor rides, puppet shows, and traditional Punjabi dances. In the evening, we can go to the Kila Raipur Sports Festival, which is a popular rural sports festival that is held every year in February. If we are lucky, we may get to witness some of the sports like Bullock Cart Race and Tug of War.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can visit the Durgiana Temple, which is a Hindu temple that is built in the same style as The Golden Temple. You can also visit the Partition Museum, which is a museum that showcases the history and aftermath of the partition of India. A side trip to Wagah or Atari border can also be planned if you are interested. To make the most of your trip, it is recommended to hire a local tour guide who can give you a better insight into the history and culture of Amritsar.
