3-Day Coorg Itinerary for Foodies in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Namdroling Monastery
    30 minutes (18.4 km) from Coorg

    Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple, is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. Start the morning by attending the morning prayer ceremony at the monastery. After the ceremony, try some delicious momos and thukpa at the nearby stalls. In the afternoon, visit the Namdroling Tibetian Settlement, where you can learn about the history and culture of Tibet and shop for Tibetan handicrafts. For dinner, head to Coorg Cuisine, which offers an authentic Coorgi thali.

  2. Day 2: Coorg Coffee Plantations
    1 hour 15 minutes (50 km) from Namdroling Monastery

    Start the morning with a tour of the coffee plantations in Coorg where you can learn about the coffee-making process and taste some of the best coffee in the country. After the tour, head to The Falls at The Tamara Coorg for lunch, a beautiful restaurant with stunning views of the waterfall. Spend the afternoon exploring the nearby Abbey Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. For dinner, head to Raintree Restaurant, which offers a mix of Indian, Chinese, and Continental cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Madikeri Fort and Raja's Seat
    1 hour (34 km) from Coorg Coffee Plantations

    Start the morning by visiting the Madikeri Fort, a historical landmark built by Tipu Sultan. The fort has a museum showcasing artifacts from the history of Coorg. After the visit, head to East End Hotel for a traditional Coorgi breakfast. In the afternoon, visit Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. For dinner, head to Taste of Coorg, a restaurant that offers authentic Coorgi cuisine.

Coorg is a nature lover's paradise, and you can add a visit to Dubare Elephant Camp to your itinerary. Here, you can bathe, feed and ride elephants. You can also visit the nearby Nagarhole National Park for a wildlife safari. Another must-visit place is the Talakaveri Temple, which is the source of the river Kaveri.
