Three-day Adventure Itinerary for Kedarnath in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    5-minute walk from Kedarnath Base Camp

    Start your day early by visiting the revered Kedarnath Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.     On your second day, explore the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which is spread over an area of 975 sq km. You can take a guided trek in the morning and explore the sanctuary, which is home to various species of flora and fauna, including the Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, and musk deer. The trek takes around 4-5 hours and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, you can go white-water rafting in the Mandakini River, which is located near the sanctuary. The rafting experience lasts for around 2 hours and is perfect for adventure enthusiasts. In the evening, return to the base camp and enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

  3. Day 3: Chorabari Glacier
    2-hour drive (58.5 km) from Kedarnath Base Camp

    On your last day, visit the Chorabari Glacier, which is a popular trekking destination in Kedarnath. The trek to the glacier takes around 6 hours and offers a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. You can also visit the Gandhi Sarovar, which is located near the glacier and is a glacial lake that is named after Mahatma Gandhi. In the afternoon, you can visit the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary, which is located in the nearby Chopta Valley. The sanctuary is home to various species of deer, including the musk deer, and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, return to the base camp and enjoy a bonfire with your fellow travelers.

If you have extra time, you can also visit the nearby Tungnath Temple, which is located around 30 km from Kedarnath.
