One Day Tour Plan for Coorg

  1. 8:00AM: Namdroling Monastery
    Approximately 15 minutes (3.5 km) from Kushalnagar town

    Namdroling Monastery is the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. It's home to a stunning 60 ft. tall golden Buddha statue and the temple is decorated with beautiful murals. You can also take a stroll around the beautiful gardens of the monastery.

  2. 10:00AM: Abbey Falls
    Approximately 30 minutes (14 km) from Namdroling Monastery

    Abbey Falls is a stunning waterfall located in the middle of a coffee and spice plantation. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and you can take a short trek to reach the falls. The waterfall is especially beautiful during the monsoon season.

  3. 12:00PM: Raja's Seat
    Approximately 30 minutes (10 km) from Abbey Falls

    Raja's Seat is a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the Coorg valley. It's a popular spot to watch the sunrise and sunset. There's also a toy train for kids and a beautiful garden around the viewpoint.

    Dubare Elephant Camp is a popular spot for animal lovers. You can take a boat ride to the camp and then spend time with the elephants. You can watch them bathe, feed them, and even take an elephant ride. You can also learn about the history and ecology of elephants in India.

  6. 6:00PM: Madikeri Fort
    Approximately 30 minutes (15 km) from Dubare Elephant Camp

    Madikeri Fort is a historical fort located in the heart of Madikeri town. It was built in the 17th century and has been renovated many times. It's a popular spot for history buffs and you can learn about the history of Coorg and its rulers. The fort also has a museum and a temple.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can visit Talakaveri, the birthplace of the river Kaveri, or Mandalpatti, a hilltop viewpoint with stunning sunset views. You can also go trekking in the Brahmagiri Hills or visit the Nagarhole National Park for a wildlife safari.
