Exploring Pune's Natural Beauty in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Sinhagad Fort
    30 minutes (14 miles) from Pune Airport

    Start your nature adventure with a trek to Sinhagad Fort. The trek starts from the base village of Atkarwadi. It takes around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the fort. Once you reach the top, enjoy the panoramic view of the city and explore the historical ruins of the fort. For lunch, try the local Maharashtrian delicacies at any of the small restaurants near the fort. In the evening, visit the Khadakwasla Dam located nearby to witness the sunset over the water.

  2. Day 2: Panshet Dam
    1 hour (21 miles) from Sinhagad Fort

    Head to the Panshet Dam area for a day of water sports and outdoor activities. Spend the morning kayaking, jet skiing or speed boating on the dam. Enjoy a picnic lunch and then head to the nearby Sinhagad Valley for some trekking and bird watching. End your day with a relaxing boat ride at the dam.

  3. Day 3: Mulshi Dam and Tamhini Ghat
    2 hours (52 miles) from Panshet Dam

    Start early to visit Mulshi Dam and witness the sunrise over the water. After breakfast, head to the Tamhini Ghat area for a scenic drive through the Western Ghats. Visit the Koyana Dam and the Koyna Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to various species of flora and fauna. In the evening, go stargazing at the nearby observatory and enjoy a hot cup of tea.

  4. Day 4: Lonavala and Khandala
    2 hours (40 miles) from Tamhini Ghat

    On your final day, visit the popular hill stations of Lonavala and Khandala. Start with a visit to the beautiful Bhushi Dam and enjoy a refreshing swim. After lunch, visit the Rajmachi Fort for a trek or visit the Karla and Bhaja Caves for some historical sightseeing. End your day with a visit to the picturesque Tiger Point for a beautiful sunset view.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the nearby hill stations of Mahabaleshwar and Matheran. You can also take a day trip to the historical city of Aurangabad and visit the famous Ajanta and Ellora Caves.
