Munnar and Thekkady 2-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Munnar Town
    30 minutes (11.6 km) from Coimbatore International Airport

    In the morning, visit the beautiful Tea Museum and learn about the history of tea in Munnar. In the afternoon, explore the Mattupetty Dam and take a boat ride to enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. For the evening, go on a romantic walk along the Kundala Lake while enjoying the cool breeze.

  2. Day 2: Thekkady Wildlife Sanctuary
    3 hours 30 minutes (110 km) from Munnar Town

    Start your day with a jungle walk in Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary to spot various species of animals and birds. In the afternoon, take a guided tour of the spice plantations and learn about the different spices grown in the area. For the evening, go on a soothing boat ride on the Periyar Lake and witness the beautiful sunset over the hills.

Recommendations

If you have time, you can visit Eravikulam National Park in Munnar to witness the blooming of the Neelakurinji flowers which happens once in 12 years. Also, visit the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary to spot endangered species such as grizzled giant squirrel, star tortoise, and slender loris. If you're interested in adventure activities, you can opt for a trek to Anamudi Peak which is the highest peak in South India.
