3-Day Adventure Itinerary from Chennai to Munnar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Masinagudi
    7 hours (263.7 km) from Chennai

    In the morning, take a jeep safari through the Mudumalai National Park to spot tigers, elephants, and other wildlife. Then, head to Pykara Waterfalls for a refreshing swim. In the afternoon, go on a trek to the Needle Rock Viewpoint for panoramic views of the area. In the evening, unwind at the Jungle Hut Resort with a bonfire and a barbecue dinner.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    5 hours (160 km) from Masinagudi

    In the morning, visit the Tea Museum to learn about the history of tea production in the region. Then, go on a hiking trail through the hills and valleys to see the picturesque landscapes of Munnar. In the afternoon, stop by the Eravikulam National Park to spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and other wildlife. In the evening, enjoy a sunset view at the Top Station, the highest point in Munnar.

  3. Day 3: Thekkady
    3 hours 45 minutes (91.4 km) from Munnar

    In the morning, go bamboo rafting on the Periyar River to spot birds, elephants, and other wildlife. Then, take a guided tour through the spice plantations to learn about the cultivation of cardamom, pepper, and other spices. In the afternoon, visit the Periyar National Park to explore the dense forests and watch the playful antics of monkeys. In the evening, watch a traditional Kathakali dance performance at the Mudra Cultural Centre.

Recommendations

You may also consider visiting the Athirapally Waterfalls and the Vazhachal Waterfalls for a scenic view. A side trip to the Backwaters of Alleppey is also a must-see. To maximize your fun, try paragliding in Vagamon or go on a houseboat ride in Kumarakom.
