Exploring Gokarna in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Gokarna Beach
    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Gokarna Bus Station

    In the morning, spend some time exploring the beautiful Gokarna Beach. The beach is known for its clean waters and a peaceful atmosphere. You can take a walk along the beach, relax and read a book or enjoy a swim. For lunch, head to Namaste Cafe, which is known for its delicious seafood. In the afternoon, visit the Mahabaleshwara Temple, located close to the beach. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the major attractions in Gokarna. In the evening, head back to the beach for a beautiful sunset and spend some time at the beach shacks or cafes.

  2. Day 2: Om Beach and Half Moon Beach
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Gokarna Beach

    In the morning, head to Om Beach, which is one of the most popular beaches in Gokarna. The beach is in the shape of the Om symbol and is surrounded by lush green hills. You can trek to the hilltop for a panoramic view of the beach. For lunch, head to the Namaste Cafe at Om Beach. In the afternoon, take a boat ride to Half Moon Beach, which is known for its serene and secluded environment. You can also go snorkeling and swimming at the beach. In the evening, head back to Om Beach to watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy the beach activities.

  3. Day 3: Mirjan Fort and Yana Rocks
    1 hour 10 minutes (40 km) from Om Beach

    In the morning, head to Mirjan Fort, which is known for its beautiful architecture and rich history. The fort was built in the 16th century and served as a strategic center for the rulers of the region. For lunch, head to Gokarna town and try the local cuisine at Prema Restaurant. In the afternoon, head to Yana Rocks, which is known for its unique rock formations and scenic beauty. You can go on a trek to reach the rocks and explore the caves. In the evening, head back to Gokarna and explore the local markets for some souvenir shopping.

Recommendations

You can also consider visiting the Shiva Cave, Kudle Beach, and Paradise Beach if you have more time in Gokarna. You can also plan a day trip to Murdeshwar, which is known for its towering statue of Lord Shiva and beautiful beach.

Make sure to carry enough cash as most of the places in Gokarna do not accept cards. Also, carry a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
