3-Day Nature Itinerary for Wayanad, August 2023

  1. Day 1: Meenmutty Falls
    1 hour 19 minutes (31.5 miles) from Calicut International Airport

    Start your day by driving to Meenmutty Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Wayanad. The 2 km trek to the waterfall is a thrilling experience with lush greenery all around. Spend your morning enjoying the waterfall and the natural surroundings. For lunch, you can try local delicacies at the nearby restaurants. In the afternoon, visit the Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake surrounded by forests. Enjoy boating and the scenic beauty of the lake. In the evening, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, which is India's largest earth dam. Take a boat ride to get a beautiful view of the dam and its surroundings.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 16 minutes (31.9 miles) from Meenmutty Falls

    Start your second day by visiting the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the top is a little challenging, but the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking. Don't forget to carry water and snacks for the trek. For lunch, you can have a picnic at the foothills of the peak.     Start your final day by visiting the Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a part of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including tigers, elephants, leopards, sambar deer, and more. Enjoy a safari ride and spot some of these majestic animals in their natural habitat. For lunch, you can have local cuisine at the nearby restaurants. In the afternoon, visit the Kuruvadweep, a group of islands surrounded by the Kabini river. The islands are rich in flora and fauna, and you can take a small trek to explore them. In the evening, visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, which is another part of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, and enjoy another safari ride to spot more animals.
