Two-Day Honeymoon Itinerary for Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore the Rich Culture and Natural Wonders of Wayanad

    Morning: Visit the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric site with ancient rock carvings. The hike up to the caves is a bit steep but the views are worth it.

    Afternoon: Head to the Pookode Lake, surrounded by lush green forests and enjoy boating and other water activities.

    Evening: End the day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, India's largest earthen dam. Take a romantic boat ride while enjoying the stunning sunset.

  2. Day 2: Get Adventurous and Explore the Wildlife of Wayanad
    1 hour 15 minutes (40.6 miles) from Banasura Sagar Dam

    Morning: Take a safari ride to Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary where you can spot tigers, elephants, and other exotic wildlife species.

    Afternoon: Visit the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the top is a bit challenging but the panoramic view of the surrounding is breathtaking.

    Evening: Head to the Soochipara Waterfalls, a three-tiered waterfall that cascades down from a height of 200 meters. Enjoy a swim in the natural pools and take some romantic pictures.

Recommendations

If you have more time in Wayanad, consider visiting the Kuruvadweep, a beautiful island on the Kabini river. You can also go to the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary for another wildlife experience. For a side trip, consider visiting Coorg, which is just across the border in Karnataka. It is known for its coffee plantations, scenic beauty and is a perfect romantic getaway.
