Kashmir Family Friendly Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mughal Gardens

    Start your trip with a visit to the stunning Mughal Gardens. The gardens are a perfect place to relax, have a picnic, and enjoy the tranquil setting while being surrounded by beautiful flowers and fountains.

  2. Day 2: Shankaracharya Hill

    Get ready for a bit of a climb to the top of Shankaracharya Hill, but it's well worth the effort. At the top, you'll enjoy panoramic views of Srinagar. Head up in the morning to avoid the heat, or in the evening to catch a beautiful sunset.

  3. Day 3: Sonamarg

    Sonamarg, also known as the "Meadow of Gold," is a beautiful hill station in Kashmir. Take a scenic drive to see stunning mountains, valleys, and glaciers. You can also take a pony ride to explore the area.

  4. Day 4: Pahalgam
    2 hours, 45 minutes (85 miles) from Sonamarg

    Head to Pahalgam for some adventure. Known as the "Valley of Shepherds," it's a great place for hiking, river rafting, and horseback riding. Try out trout fishing, or enjoy a picnic with your family along the Lidder River.

  5. Day 5: Gulmarg
    4 hours (100 miles) from Pahalgam

    Gulmarg is a world-renowned skiing and snowboarding destination, but it's also beautiful in the summer months. Take a gondola ride to the top of the mountain for stunning views, go golfing, or take a horseback ride along the trails.

  6. Day 6: Dal Lake
    1 hour (18 miles) from Gulmarg

    Finish your trip with a relaxing boat ride on Dal Lake. Take in the beautiful scenery, including the famous floating gardens, and watch the locals go about their daily lives. You can also visit some of the lake's historic Mughal gardens.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Hazratbal Shrine or the Dachigam Wildlife Sanctuary. For a side trip, head to Ladakh for some trekking or to explore the Tibetan Buddhist culture. To maximize your fun, try some local cuisine and shop for souvenirs in the markets.
