4-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kodaikanal in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Pillar Rocks
    15 minutes (5.3 km) from Kodaikanal Lake

    Start your adventure by exploring the Pillar Rocks, three massive granite boulders standing vertically shoulder to shoulder amidst beautiful surroundings. The view from the top is stunning, and if you are lucky, you can catch a glimpse of the Bison roaming around. In the afternoon, you can head to the Guna Caves, formed by the Palani Hills. The caves are dark, and you will need a torch to explore the place. In the evening, visit the Kodaikanal Lake, a man-made lake that offers boating and cycling facilities. You can enjoy a beautiful sunset view from the lake.

  2. Day 2: Berijam Lake
    1 hour 10 minutes (21.5 km) from Kodaikanal Lake

    Embark on an early morning trek to Dolphin's Nose, which is a flat rock protruding from the mountain and offers a breathtaking view of the valley below. After breakfast, head to the Berijam Lake, a secluded lake surrounded by beautiful forests. You need to obtain a permit from the forest department to visit the lake. The serene surroundings of the lake offer a perfect spot for a picnic lunch. Visit the Silent Valley Viewpoint in the evening to witness the breathtaking view of the valley below.

  3. Day 3: Bear Shola Falls
    15 minutes (4.4 km) from Kodaikanal Lake

    Start your day by visiting the Bear Shola Falls, a seasonal waterfall nestled amidst dense forests. The waterfall is named after the bears that used to come here to drink. From here, you can proceed to the Pine Forest, which is a dense forest of pine trees that offers a perfect spot for a photoshoot. In the evening, visit the Coaker's Walk, a narrow pedestrian path that offers a stunning view of the valley below.

  4. Day 4: Vattakanal
    20 minutes (5.8 km) from Kodaikanal Lake

    On the last day of your adventure, visit the Vattakanal village, also known as "Little Israel" for its large number of Israeli tourists. The village offers an excellent opportunity for trekking, birdwatching, and exploring the local culture. Visit the Dolphin's Nose viewpoint, which offers a stunning view of the valley below. In the afternoon, relax and unwind at the Yoga Narasimhar Temple, which offers yoga, meditation, and Ayurvedic treatments.

Don't miss the opportunity to go caving at the Kukkal Caves or visiting the Kurinji Andavar Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Murugan and is famous for its Kurinji flower. You can also go on a day trip to the Palani Murugan Temple, which is one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan.
