Exploring Coorg with Family in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    30 minutes (8.3 miles) from Madikeri

    In the morning, head to Abbey Falls and witness the water cascading down from a height of 70 feet. You can trek down to the waterfall base and enjoy the view. After having lunch, visit the Madikeri Fort. Learn about the history of Coorg and its rulers. In the evening, visit Raja's Seat and enjoy the sunset view. This famous viewpoint has a garden with beautiful flowers and fountains.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 10 minutes (33.9 miles) from Madikeri

    Start the day by visiting the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can interact with elephants and learn about their lifestyle. You can watch them bathe in the river and even participate in the bathing process. After lunch, head to the Namdroling Monastery, which is the largest Tibetan settlement in Southern India. In the evening, visit the Talacauvery and Bhagamandala temples. The Talacauvery temple is located on the Brahmagiri Hill, which is the source of the Cauvery River. Bhagamandala temple is located at the confluence of three rivers, Cauvery, Kannike, and Sujyothi.

  3. Day 3: Nagarhole National Park
    1 hour 40 minutes (49.7 miles) from Madikeri

    Start the day early and head to Nagarhole National Park, which is also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park. Enjoy a jeep safari and spot various wild animals like tigers, elephants, leopards, and deer. After the safari, visit the Irupu Falls, which is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green forests. In the evening, head back to the hotel and relax.

Some popular ones are Tata Coffee Plantation, Coorg Consolidated Commodities, and Mercara Gold Estate Coffee Plantation. Lastly, don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially the Pandi Curry and Akki Roti.
